Listen & look closer

We start here, outside Norwich railway station. Before heading for the river, turn back towards the entrance. That's quite a welcome for a building whose main job is getting us somewhere else.

The station building dates from eighteen eighty-six. Look at the central dome, the clock beneath it, and the arches sheltering the entrance. Red brick does most of the work, with pale decoration picking out the windows. The middle rises above the wings, giving the whole frontage a very deliberate sense of occasion.

Narration uses a synthetic voice. Places, routes and stories are researched, with sources and photo credits available in each tour.
